Raise your loader arms up all the way and put in the loader arm lock. Remove the 2 bolts at the rear of the cab with a 15/16" wrench. Tilt the cab forwards. The lift cylinders will make lifting the cab very easy as it may try to rise on its own once the last bolt is removed. The cab lift lock pin will need to be removed, if it is in place, before un bolting the cab.
But basically you lift with both hands the cab as it pivots on pins in the back above the radiator. It will stay when all the way lifted, but will not stay with it lifted up 1 or 2 feet. Thats after you remove the nuts & washer hold it down. I have a Case 1840 skid steer. I was told that you can slide the cab forward to get better access to the motor. Does anyone have instructions how to do this?
Another way to get all the wheels off the ground so you don't have a teeter totter is to put blocks under the rear corners of the machine and then use the bucket in dump to lift the front of the machine and block it. My 2006 CAT 242B has the same cab tilt procedure . place supports under the rear of the machine, remove the two 15/16" nuts from the front inside corners of the cab, close the door, tilt the cab upward and ensure cab support lever is in the engaged position.
